Experience

Louise was called to the Bar in 2005 and began practice as a criminal practitioner. She has over a decade of experience in professional regulation and has extensive experience of appearing before committees of the GDC, GPhC, GOC, GMC, HCPC, NMC and ARB as well as appearing on behalf of regulatory bodies at the High Court. She has also sat as a legal advisor for NHS England.

As well as acting as an advocate, Louise has considerable experience of managing and reviewing large investigations and providing advice at all stages of proceedings.

She has dealt with cases involving serious failures leading to the deaths of vulnerable patients, fraud and financial misconduct including non-compliance with anti-money laundering legislation, sexual misconduct and complicated technical or clinical matters. She is adept at advising on and questioning expert witnesses.

Expertise

Louise is a Barrister on the Regulatory Team and as such appears before tribunals of statutory regulators including the Solicitors Regulatory Authority, the General Dental Council and the General Optical Council. Louise also reviews investigations and provides advice at all stages of investigations and proceedings for the same regulators as well as for Social Work England.

Publications

Louise enjoys writing articles on recent developments in the regulatory field and developments in case law. She was a frequent contributor to Blake Morgan’s Regulatory e-bulletin and also co-authored an article on Recent Developments in professional regulation for Lexis Nexis in 2018 - Regulation of professionals—fitness to practise post-Ivey.
