On 2 June 2026 the Supreme Court fundamentally changed the test for deprivation of liberty in the case brought by the Attorney General for Northern Ireland. The decision impacts the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, the working practices of health and social care professionals as well as the process of the Court and local authority DOLS teams
