Capsticks is celebrating another successful summer of supporting emerging talent and widening access to legal careers, following the completion of its latest series of internships.

This year marked the firm’s fourth partnering with the 10,000 Black Interns programme, welcoming five individuals into legal and business services teams across its Birmingham, Leeds, London and Manchester offices. The flagship programme of the 10,000 Interns Foundation creates opportunities for Black students and graduates to gain meaningful work experience across a wide range of industries in six-week placements.

Capsticks also welcomed its first LGBT+ legal intern through a new internship sponsored by the firm’s LGBT+ network, PRISM. Based in the sector-leading Claims division, the paid placement was created to support LGBT+ undergraduates with an interest in law, offering valuable hands-on legal experience, mentoring and networking opportunities.

The firm’s commitment to early careers was further reflected in the continued success of its two-week Graduate Vacation Scheme. Interns spent time with teams across the Claims, Employment & Pensions, Housing Management, Real Estate, Regulatory and Advisory divisions, gaining insight into real work that makes a difference while learning more about Capsticks’ people, sectors and clients.

Following this year’s scheme, Capsticks has made Training Contract offers to a number of participants. Seven candidates have so far accepted places to join the firm as future trainees with full sponsorship for the SQE.

Applications for the 2027 Graduate Vacation Scheme open in the autumn.

Rachael Heenan, Senior Partner at Capsticks, said:

A huge thank you to this year’s interns for bringing such enthusiasm and energy to their time with us. It has been a real pleasure to welcome them into the firm and see them get involved across our teams. Supporting people at the early stages of their careers is really important to us at Capsticks, and we are committed to creating meaningful opportunities that help talented people gain proper experience and a clearer sense of where a career in legal services could take them.

Annah Dyett-Meade, Intern in the Business Development and Marketing team, said:

Interning with Capsticks through the 10,000 Black Interns Programme has been an invaluable experience that has allowed me to apply the knowledge and theories from my Marketing and Management degree in a professional environment. Working within a B2B setting, particularly in the legal sector, has significantly expanded my understanding of how marketing and business development support client relationships and business growth. It has been inspiring to see the firm's values reflected in the work of the team on a daily basis.

I am very thankful to the team for dedicating their time to support me and my development throughout the internship – I have developed key skills, gained valuable industry insight from professionals and built confidence, all of which have shaped and will continue to shape my postgraduate journey.
