Capsticks has advised Northampton General Hospital (NGH) on the development of its new front entrance and retail facilities. The new space, located at the former South Entrance of the site, opened in July and features a modern, staffed reception area and facilities for employees, patients and visitors, including food outlets and convenience shopping through various popular high-street brands. The new entrance also features Electric Vehicle charging points, in line with the NHS Sustainability Pledge.

Capsticks aligned a team of real estate experts to support Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust on the legal aspects of the project. Partner Henry Matveieff, Legal Director Vicki Moore and Associate Tracey Blundell negotiated multiple property documents between various parties in order to facilitate the project.

Henry Matveieff, Partner at Capsticks, commented: “It has been a pleasure to support our client NGH on this complex development project. The new entrance and retail units will make a big difference to the hospital’s staff and patients, providing them with excellent facilities.”

Stuart Finn, Director of Estates and Facilities at Northampton General Hospital, said: "We are so excited to open our new entrance to our patients, visitors and staff today. This development has been in the works for a number of years and will provide a new welcoming space for people coming to NGH. The advice and support from our legal team at Capsticks has been invaluable and steered us through a complex process.”

This is the first of three multi-million developments at NGH, with its new paediatric emergency department and critical care unit due to open later in the year.

Capsticks’ real estate department offers NHS trusts a full-service support on all aspects of their estate infrastructure, including large-scale hospital developments and the addition of new facilities, retail units, front entrances, staff accommodation blocks and multi-storey car parks.
