Experience


Sarah is Principal Associate in the Insurance team. She works advising clients on high value and complex claims within the independent healthcare sector. She has substantial experience of working with the insurance sector, medical defence organisations and the NHS.


Expertise


Sarah has particular interest in and experience of group litigation and product liability claims.  She has substantial experience in GP claims, including failure to diagnose cauda equina, subarachnoid haemorrhage and meningitis. She provides policy advices and is expert in indemnity issues, working for private sector clients providing NHS services. She has clients ranging from private hospitals, diagnostics providers and individual surgeons to Universities conducting clinical trials. She has been closely involved with Capsticks’ inquest team in supporting a private hospital client. Sarah is also experienced in dealing with clinical trial claims.

Sarah supervises a team dealing with beauty claims and is experienced in product liability claims in this setting.


Notable projects

  • Sarah has been involved in numerous projects aiming to consolidate learning and tactics on subjects such as hospital acquired infections, cauda equina claims and ischaemic foot claims.
  • She has been successful in securing the strike out of a bankrupt litigant who had failed to seek approval for his personal injury claim from his Trustee in bankruptcy.
  • Sarah also has a strong interest in dealing with fraudulent claims, having successfully applied to strike out a claim for fraudulent exaggeration. She has significant experience in use of social media and surveillance to identify fraudulent and/or exaggerated claims.

Sarah has been described as “fearless” and “innovative” as a litigator.
