Facility time publication requirement – are you up to speed?
17/10/17The Trade Union (Facility Time Publication Requirements) Regulations 2017 came into force on 1 April 2017. The Regulations require nearly all public sector employers to publish information on how much time is spent by their trade union officials on paid “trade union facility time” over the course of the relevant 12-month period. We have therefore almost reached the half way point in the first reporting year, and to stay on track organisations should by now have compiled 6 months’ worth of data.
The first date this needs to be published on is 31 July 2018. We recommend that trade union officials are asked to report back on a monthly basis on the number of hours they have spent on trade union activities and trade union duties in order to provide accurate figures at the end of the 12 month period.
How can Capsticks help?
In order to assist employers in navigating the complex requirements under the regulations, we have prepared a practical guidance pack. The pack includes advice on how to prepare the end of year report and a template for trade union officials to complete each month.
Please contact Rachel Luddem, Nicky Green or Sarah Parkinson if you would like further information about the pack.
