Public Procurement – In Conference with Counsel: Contract Modifications – how to do them compliantly

Join us on Thursday 3 December for the latest session of our Procurement webinar series with Counsel. This will be the final session of 2026!

Capsticks Procurement Partner Lynsey Oakdene (Chair) and Senior Associate Margarita Petai will be joined by leading public procurement barrister Azeem Suterwalla KC from Monckton Chambers where together they’ll address how public contracts can be modified in accordance with the procurement legislation and discuss key considerations for procurement professionals when considering contract variations. This is commonly a thorny issue, carrying real risk of challenge.

The webinar will cover:

  • What the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and the Procurement Act 2023 set out in relation to contract modifications;
  • What the case law to date tells us and how that impacts contracting authorities (and suppliers);
  • Practical tips and guidance for contracting authorities when considering contract variations and the notices to be published.

This webinar is aimed at procurement professionals in the public sector. The session will provide insights into the “real-life” issues which our team come across again and again.

There will, as ever, be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session.
