Navigating the new regulatory standard for tenant access to information (STAIRS)
On Thursday 22 January, our experts looked at the new regulatory standard for tenant access to information (STAIRS).
Coming into effect in two phases in October 2026 and April 2027, the STAIRS regime will require RPs to:
- Maintain a publication scheme of proactively published housing information
- To respond to requests from customers or their representatives for housing management related information
Customers will have a right to complain to the Ombudsman about housing associations’ responses to such requests, and the Ombudsman will in turn have the power to raise concerns about non-compliance with the RSH.
Capsticks Partner Andrew Latham and Principal Associate Emma Godding, explored:
- The requirements of the two phases of the STAIRS implementation
- Provide practical tips to help you prepare
- Discuss how you can deliver on this important new standard
