Experience

Mathieu is a solicitor and a French qualified lawyer at Capsticks.

He qualified as a lawyer at an international law firm in Paris before moving to the UK in 2016 to complete the MSc in Construction & Dispute Resolution at King’s College London. He subsequently requalified as a solicitor and, more recently, as a solicitor-advocate.

Mathieu has worked in the construction and dispute resolution departments of several law firms, both in Paris and London. He has also worked as an in-house lawyer for the UK’s first home warranty provider and approved inspector in relation to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.

Expertise

Mathieu specialises in construction law. He has notable experience in construction disputes relating to building safety and Building Regulations, as well as standard form contracts and associated documentation, including JCT, NEC and FIDIC suites.

He has acted for a wide range of actors in the construction industry, with experience ranging from civil litigation and alternative dispute resolutions through to public inquiry-related proceedings. He is a Fellow of the CIArb.

CSR activity

Mathieu is an active member of the firm’s corporate social responsibility initiatives such as the pro bono clinic at the Wimbledon Guild.
