Jamie Hughes

Senior Associate

Jamie joined the Regulatory Team in 2009, and has worked for a range of clients including the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), General Chiropractic Council (GCC), Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), General Dental Council (GDC), General Osteopathcic Council (GOSC), Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA) and Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

Jamie has conducted fitness to practise (FTP) investigations for the GPhC, HCPC, NMC and GDC. This work involves reviewing initial complaints, liaising with complainants, witnesses and registrants under investigation, interviewing witnesses and drafting detailed witness statements, gathering and analysing documentary evidence, and drafting case reports and allegations.

Jamie has extensive experience of preparing cases for hearing across a range of both healthcare and non-healthcare regulatory clients, including the GPhC, GCC, GOSC and SRA. This work involves drafting instructions to counsel and experts, gathering evidence and preparing cases for disclosure, coordinating the listing of hearings, coordinating the preparation of bundles, drafting statements of case and skeleton arguments, and attending conferences and hearings with Counsel.

Jamie also has experience of issuing appeals in the High Court for the PSA and SRA.

CSR activity

Jamie is an active member of the firm’s choir, which performs annually at the Wimbledon Guild.

Notable projects

Jamie has been heavily involved in the construction of an automated workflow application for the GPhC within the firm’s current case management system, which is designed to streamline processes, manage deadlines, improve knowledge management and maintain consistency across the team’s regulatory cases. Jamie has also created a knowledge bank of template documents which are used by the regulatory application on a daily basis.
