Legal duties in transition planning – Considerations for adult social care and healthcare professionals
Capsticks Principal Associate Heather Plant and Senior Associate Ayesha Iqbal were joined by Lee Parkhill, Barrister at Cornerstone Barristers, where together they discussed:
- The legal framework for children/young adults when transitioning to adult services;
- The practicalities of transition planning to include the role of Children’s and Adult services and the relevant health bodies;
- The relevant service provisions that ought to be considered to include, the Care Act 2014, Continuing Health Care framework and Section 117 aftercare under the Mental Health Act 1983; and
- The role of the Court of Protection in the transition process.
