Peter regularly advises health bodies on their reconfiguration plans and has supported a number of major consultation exercises as well as acting in several high-profile judicial review cases involving matters such as the closure of hospitals, fluoridation of the water supply and decisions not to fund particular medical treatments.
Peter’s employment law practice includes handling major organisational changes such as the establishment of the UK’s first Academic Health Science Centre and advising on TUPE transfers, redundancy consultation and pension issues.
- Advising on the consultation, decision-making process and implementation of the decision to add fluoride to the water supply in Southampton and South East Hampshire.
- Advising on the establishment of the UKs first Academic Health Science Centre combining Imperial College School of Medicine and the Hammersmith, Charing Cross and St Mary's Hospitals, 2008.
- Advising the Department of Health on the implementation of recommendations made by the MMC review body, 2007.
- Chairing the national steering group in respect of the NHS consultants' "10% rule" class action, 2006.
