Experience
Melanie qualified in-house in a pharmaceutical company where she gained lots of experience drafting and advising on commercial contracts and related documentation relating to clinical trials, early access programs and the manufacturing and distribution of pharmaceutical products. Melanie also gained experience in relation to intellectual property, data protection and corporate governance matters whilst working in-house.
Since moving into private practice in 2021, Melanie has gained experience in advising both public and private sector clients on a wide range of commercial and finance transactions, mainly in the healthcare and local government sectors.
Melanie has particular experience of advising on PFI project agreements and related deeds of variation (for both private and public sector clients), contracts for goods and services (including framework agreements), managed equipment services contracts (for a medical technology leasing company client), energy performance contracts, partnership agreements and confidentiality agreements.
Expertise
Melanie has a broad range of expertise in many types of commercial contracts however her main area of expertise is PFI project agreements and related documentation including deeds of indemnity and variations. Melanie also advises on PFI performance-related issues, including in the context of PFI expiry and handback.
Notable projects
When Melanie worked in-house she was a member of the core project team tasked with launching the company on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM).
