Experience

Lauren is an Associate in the Advisory Team. She trained at a specialist mental health firm, where she gained experience in mental health, mental capacity and public law matters.

Lauren has significant experience of Mental Health Act matters, including representing individuals before the First-tier Tribunal (Mental Health) in a range of cases, including those involving hospital and restriction orders. This background gives her valuable insight into the challenges faced by providers, as well as a strong appreciation of the patient perspective which informs her pragmatic and sensitive advice to clients. She has also advised on Section 117 aftercare and wider Mental Health Act duties.

Lauren’s mental capacity experience includes advising on complex cases involving individuals who object to care and treatment arrangements, supporting providers to manage risk while ensuring legally compliant decision-making.

In addition, Lauren has experience in public law matters, including judicial review proceedings and involvement in a Court of Appeal case, strengthening her understanding of the regulatory framework within which public bodies operate.

    Expertise

    Lauren advises on a broad range of issues for NHS and healthcare clients including inquests, the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Court of Protection Matters and general healthcare queries. She supports clients in the inquest process, including pre-inquest review hearings, reviewing witness statements, advising clinicians and representing at hearings.
