Jessica Bass
Senior Associate, Barrister
Jessica is a Senior Associate Barrister in the Regulatory Team. She is a specialist in professional regulation and an experienced advocate, having completed pupillage at the Nursing and Midwifery Council and worked as a lawyer in the NMC’s case preparation and presentation team for a number of years.
Expertise
Jessica has significant experience preparing and presenting the full range of fitness to practise hearings for regulatory clients including the HCPC, NMC, GCC, SWE, TRA, GDC, GOsC and RCVS. Her experience includes high profile cases, complex competence concerns and cases involving sexual misconduct, predatory behaviour and dishonesty. Jessica has presented fitness to practise hearings involving expert witnesses and both vulnerable witnesses and vulnerable registrants and she has undertaken specialist training in respect of questioning witnesses who are vulnerable or affected by trauma.
Jessica has provided advice to a number of healthcare and financial regulatory clients on a range of subjects including investigative steps, interpretation and application of caselaw and legislation, admissibility of evidence, prospects and procedure. She has also recently delivered training on advocacy in interim order hearings, taking witness statements and preparing High Court applications.
Jessica has appeared as an advocate in a range of hearings including interim order, review, and substantive hearings before regulatory panels and also appears in the High Court in relation to applications and appeals.
