The Paterson Inquiry panel discussion: a whole healthcare system response

In the opening pages, the Report of the Independent Paterson Inquiry describes a ‘dysfunctional’ healthcare system with a “capacity for wilful blindness”.

It is clear from the Inquiry Report that the victims of Paterson’s malpractice were let down on many levels. The whole healthcare system, public and private, will need to work together to address these issues with a view to avoiding similar tragic events occurring in the future. As the Report makes clear, ‘this is not simply a story about a rogue surgeon’.

We are hosting a panel discussion at etc. venues, Chancery Lane, to bring together key figures across the sector to discuss the Inquiry Report and the response of the whole healthcare system to the recommendations found within it.

The Panel will include Karen Harrowing, Independent Advisor to the Inquiry, David Hare, Chief Executive of the Independent Healthcare Providers Network, senior speakers from one of the leading national defence indemnifiers, the MDDUS, as well as other health sector organisations.
