Lucy joined us from DWF where she was predominantly instructed to deal with Article 2 inquests by clients in the police, healthcare and justice sectors as well as civil claims arising from inquests. Lucy also has extensive experience of dealing with complex casualty claims and breach of Human Rights Act claims brought against police forces and health and justice clients.
Expertise
The inquests Lucy leads on are often sensitive, high-risk and require extensive reputation management. She is adept at handling cases where the deceased had a significant history of mental health issues, self-harm, suicide attempts, bullying or coercion.
Lucy deals with all stages of the inquest process, including review of documents, preparation of witness statements, providing support to witnesses, preparing for hearings and providing tactical advice to clients as well as liaising with all parties. Lucy also advises on policy and assists clients throughout the inquest process to identify and action learning points.
She has years of civil litigation experience including advising on complex liability and causation issues and managing claims arising out of the inquest.
Lucy works proactively to provide practical and commercial advice to achieve the best outcome for her clients.
