Renters' (Reform) Bill: What does this mean for Registered Providers?

On Wednesday 5 July, we discussed the Renters’ (Reform) Bill and what this means for Registered Providers (RPs) and the social housing sector.

In the session we looked at the key sections of the Bill and the proposed changes to housing law in England as part of the government’s commitment to “bring in a better deal for renters”.

Sarah Christy, legal director in our housing management team was joined by senior associate, Catherine Craven, where they discussed:

- The abolishment of AST’s & management of tenancies following the repeal of section 21 of the Housing Act 1988 – ‘no fault’ evictions
- Pets in tenanted properties
- Proposed new and amended grounds of possession under section 8
- Whether this will improve the process of obtaining possession orders
- Whether the Bill will strengthen a landlord’s powers to take ASB action
