John is a partner in the Regulatory Division. He has been with the firm for more than 20 years, having previously specialised in commercial dispute resolution at a leading City of London law firm. John has extensive knowledge and understanding of professional disciplinary work and the regulatory sector.
John has advised and assisted numerous regulatory bodies with the reform of their disciplinary procedures as well as handling hundreds of fitness to practise and other professional disciplinary cases. He has also dealt with many appeals and judicial review challenges in the context of decisions of regulators and their panels.
John has sat as legal adviser to committees of regulators and has acted as advocate in many professional disciplinary cases. John has also provided training to clients and at external conferences on many occasions.
John has overall responsibility for our relationship with a number of the firm’s regulatory clients.

In 2017, John was the only solicitor in any firm recognised in the Legal 500’s “Hall of Fame” for professional discipline (the Hall of Fame highlights individuals who have received constant praise by their clients over more than eight years).
