Jennifer Bennett is a partner specialising in property, asset management, governance and regulatory work for housing providers across England and Wales.
She has worked in the sector for over 30 years and was involved in the development of the early low cost ownership schemes providing support and advice in the development of sites and sales of shared ownership leases to a new client base for housing associations working closely with the development team and with retail lenders who for the first time were providing funds to home owners with a new form of security.
Since then, she has developed a bespoke New Home sales service for all forms of low cost ownership ranging from conventional shared ownership to those purchasers looking for a new housing solution.
With the advent of private finance into the sector in 1989, Jennifer established a specialist service to housing clients providing large scale property and securitisation support either on a stand-alone re-financing or as part of a large scale property transfer.
In recent years, Jennifer has established an Asset Management team which is a team of specialist lawyers who provide contentious and non-contentious advice across the whole range of housing providers' stock. Typically, the work may involve advice on strategic disposals of stock through to LVT applications.
She particularly specialises in residential leasehold work and has advised many housing providers on procurement related issues, consultation and remedies available in the event of leaseholder default.
Throughout her career she has provided advice around governance and regulatory matters and charitable issues.
- The acquisition of circa 300 privately owned leasehold flats to enable the demolition and re-development as part of a large scale regeneration project.
- Team Leader for major securitisation for London RP Bond Issue.
- Review of service charges across the entire stock of a major RP, identifying areas of risk and strategic advice.
