The Health and Social Care Act 2012
After more than 1,000 amendments, the Health and Social Care Bill has now received Royal assent.
The themes of organisational change; choice and competition; improving quality and productivity and patient safety continue to dominate.
Our specialist teams have analysed the key provisions of the Act and assessed their impact on health and social care providers, commissioners and regulators. We have prepared a range of publications looking at how the changes brought about by the Act will impact on your business; how to take advantage of the reforms and how to mitigate any new or increased risks. We are also be running a series of seminars and discussion forums where our legal experts and leading figures in health and social care policy will debate the important issues.
Sir David Nicholson said that meeting the delivery challenge of the White Paper “requires a relentless focus on implementation”. We are trying to mirror this in our approach with colleagues and clients by concentrating on the implications of the Act, and the practical challenges that it will raise rather than simply providing a commentary on its contents.
We are continuing to meet with clients and colleagues in acute, community and mental health service providers, emerging clinical commissioning groups, strategic health authorities, primary care trusts, independent sector providers and local government in order to understand their hopes and concerns in the light of the Act, and to develop services that will meet their future needs.
All our 150 lawyers are health and social care specialists. Whether you are a current client or haven’t spoken to us before, and whether you are based in the NHS, local government or the private sector, we’ll be very happy to talk to you about your plans and how they can best be realised in this rapidly changing world.
