Capsticks has experience of handling a wide range of injury claims at all levels and we are experienced in managing occupational disease claims, road traffic and rail accidents, and public liability and accident at work claims.
We have particular expertise of handling claims involving catastrophic injury. Since the early 1980s we have handled over 2000 claims reserved at over £500,000. We are currently handling a reserve portfolio of large loss claims with a value in excess of approximately £750 million. We have lawyers who specialise in head injury, spinal injury, stroke, neurological disorder, loss of a limb and loss of sight claims. These claims often have common themes and having case specialists means that the key issues can be identified early. As a result, we are able to provide a proportionate and commercial early view on whether to settle or fight. Once the decision is taken, we achieve the result as economically as possible.
At the other end of the scale, our strength in depth means that we can offer an efficient claims handling service, investigating claims proportionately and providing early commercial advice to help achieve a practical and cost effective resolution of lower value claims before significant legal costs are incurred.
An important aspect of all injury claims is quantification and our experience and expertise means that we are able at a very early stage to form accurate views on reserving. We use tried and tested experts to provide reports and we know who will be likely to provide evidence to help counter certain common features in claims. We are very familiar with the application of periodical payments and the implications of such settlements for insurers.
We offer our insurer clients and their insureds value and expertise, underpinned by an unprecedented level of customer service. We make it our business to understand our clients' business and always recognise that we are working for two clients: insurers and their insureds.
