Our Project Management team has years of experience helping healthcare businesses achieve programme and project goals without the pain of diverting internal resources.

The challenge

Time pressed organisations struggle to focus on strategic estate issues.
 
Teams are constantly sidetracked by issues that require a reactive approach. Internal people are delegated to cope. This takes them away from their day job, which frustrates them, the project isn’t managed well, and so costs spiral, including legal and other professional expenses.
 
Without the necessary experience or sufficient time to deal with the management challenges for the project, internal people can sometimes struggle to quantify progress. Or there may be pressure keep their head down until the problem is so bad that fire-fighting takes the place of management.

In a typical project the links with Capsticks’ lawyers will involve capital projects, negotiating side developments, or constructing facilities you might be building or relocating. By having an overview of the project we can coordinate and direct all of the necessary expertise across the project team and also help minimise unnecessary professional expenses or project overruns.

For example

An acute trust wants to develop a radiology facility on its site, which is being procured by another provider organisation. The project involves negotiating commercial terms between the parties, preparing a business case for the trust, inputting on instructions to the lawyers and professional team, coordinating the construction programme for the building, organising the equipment for the facility and making sure it connects to roadways, power and communications.
 
The earlier we’re involved the more efficiencies we can make. At the initiation stage we can help define the project more precisely. We then mange the project through the planning stage to execution of the work and closure – so no loose ends are left to tie up resource at a later stage.
