| New Department of Health guidance, Maintaining High Professional Standards in the Modern NHS introduces a new system for handling conduct, performance and ill-health issues concerning NHS-employed doctors and dentists. The new framework had to be implemented by 1st June 2005.
In view of the Board level responsibilities the new framework imposes, NHS bodies should develop an appropriate policy as soon as possible and provide training for the following key senior members of staff:
Case Managers (usually the Medical Director)
Case Investigators (usually Senior Clinical Managers)
Chairman and Non-Executive Directors
