Vacation scheme

Vacation scheme

Capsticks is committed to recruiting the best people to maintain its market leading position and encourages all prospective trainee solicitors to participate in our vacation scheme as this our primary means for selecting our future trainee solicitors. The scheme is designed to provide you with an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the type of work we undertake and in 2008 our scheme was ranked by the Lex 100 as the 9th best vacation scheme of the UK’s premier 135 law firms.

The scheme

Our vacation scheme runs from the end of June through to the middle of August and placements last for two weeks each. Vacation students spend a week in two different departments and we limit the number of participants on each scheme to five to ensure you are able to get the most out of your placement.

Our aim is to involve you in every aspect of the firm so you can find out what life at Capsticks is really like. You will be allocated a supervisor during each seat who will be responsible for allocating, supervising and providing you with feedback on your work and this will typically involve research, drafting, attending meetings and having direct contact with our clients. You will also be able to participate in our firm wide and departmental training programmes, pro bono and sporting activities, as well have the opportunity to get to know members of the firm through a number of social events we organise for you.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for our 2010 vacation scheme, you should be on course for or have achieved a 2.1 (or equivalent) in your undergraduate degree and be looking to secure a training contract with us in September 2012. We also expect candidates to be able to demonstrate that they are highly driven team players, with good problem solving and communication skills.
