The healthcare bodies Capsticks works for are large, high-profile organisations with annual budgets that can run into hundreds of millions of pounds. Our Commercial Department advises on the full range of commercial and contractual issues facing these unique bodies. We carry out pioneering healthcare Private Finance Initiative projects, advising both NHS and private sector bodies. These range from the reprovision of clinical facilities, rationalisation of hospital sites, provision of secure units, MRI scanners, computer installations, energy management schemes and community care discharge arrangements. We have particular expertise in the procurement of IT and other services (including the EU and Department of Health tendering rules), intellectual property implications, income generation schemes and the powers of NHS and other public bodies. The Commercial Department also advises a number of healthcare related charities and voluntary organisations on all aspects of charity and company law. Most lawyers in the department have been recruited from City or large provincial firms. They joined Capsticks because, in addition to a better quality of life, the quality of work available was better than that which they were used to in their previous firms.
