Sophie joined the Birmingham employment team in March 2016 having previously trained and qualified as an employment lawyer at DLA Piper.
Sophie focuses on a broad range of employment law issues in the healthcare sector including non-contentious matters such as advising on policies, drafting settlement agreements, consultancy agreements, employment contracts and advising on issues related to the transfer of services and businesses between the public and private sector.
Sophie also advises healthcare sector clients on contentious matters and supports organisations in relation to employment tribunal claims, with particular experience of advising on claims of unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal and discrimination. Sophie has experience of conducting her own advocacy at the Employment Tribunal and has a particular interest in medical discipline matters involving doctors under the MHPS framework.
Relevant experience: Experience in advising on TUPE issues including assisting in drafting bespoke provisions for agreements for the provision of services. Sophie advises clients on a wide range of issues such as sickness absence management, termination of employment, settlement agreements, grievance processes, immigration and complex pensions issues.
Sophie is experienced in providing training to clients on a wide range of relevant topics including providing regular legal updates for HR professionals and, most recently, delivering training on disciplinary and grievance investigations on a case study basis.
