John specialised in commercial litigation and arbitration at a leading City of London law firm for more than 10 years before joining Capsticks in 1997. John has an unparalleled knowledge and understanding of professional disciplinary work and the regulatory sector. He has had overall responsibility for Capsticks’ relationship with a number of our regulatory clients.
John has advised and assisted numerous regulatory bodies with the reform of their disciplinary procedures as well as handling hundreds of conduct cases and dealing with many appeals by practitioners to the Privy Council and the High Court. John has acted as legal adviser to committees of regulators and has acted as advocate in many professional regulatory cases both at the interim order and final hearing stages.
John is recognised as one of a handful of leading individuals in the field of professional disciplinary work by the Chambers Guide to the legal profession and the Legal 500 and has been since these independent directories started covering this field. In the directory published in October 2016, market commentators said they were "staggered" at John's "ability to identify and address key issues in a case."
