Jo specialises in clinical negligence litigation, disciplinary and regulatory defence work, and advises Consultants and GPs. She has worked for all three medical defence organisations and a number of medical malpractice insurers.
Jo’s healthcare claims experience includes handling high value maximum severity and catastrophic injury claims for medical defence organisations and their members, and insured healthcare professionals.
Jo also advises doctors in areas of professional discipline, including disciplinary proceedings and at the General Medical Council. She was Associate lawyer to Dr Andrew Wakefield in the longest running, and high profile GMC hearing. Jo also advises in doctors in relation to inquests, defamation actions, public inquiries and data protection issues.
With over 15 years’ experience in advising GPs, Jo also advises GPs on all forms of dispute, including partnership disputes in addition to providing a mediation/facilitation service. Her team advise on contractual, commercial/supplier and property disputes. Jo is part of Capsticks’ award winning GP legal support team, providing specialist legal and business advice to GPs and practice managers nationally, and who were named Legal Team of the Year at the General Practice Awards in 2015 and 2016.
Jo qualified as a barrister and then as a solicitor, and has 15+ years’ experience in defending healthcare professionals. The Legal 500 recommend Jo as “highly valued” for her “deep experience” and “good client-handling skills”. Jo became a Partner at Capsticks in 2016.
